Why landed cost matters more than price

A product that looks profitable at €500 can lose money once duty, freight and import VAT are included. The difference between a 0% duty category and a 17% one is often the whole margin.

How the estimate works: duty is charged on the goods value when it exceeds €150 per consignment. Import VAT is charged on the customs value (goods plus freight to the border) plus duty. Rates come from EU Access2Markets (2026-11-05) for Chinese origin, and reflect the typical tariff line of each category — most categories span several lines, so check the exact code before you rely on a number.
